Welcome to our guild.  Listed on this page are the activities that our guild is involved in during meetings as well as in our local community.

Archives - We have an archivist who collects articles and other information pertaining to our guild history.

Bus Trips - Be prepared for alot of fun and laughs while we enjoy the comfort of a bus and someone to do the driving for us.  We try for one bus trip a year and they are usually to a quilt show.

Block Lottery - we currently are not running a block of the month lottery, but it has been popular in the past and may well be again.   Needs a member to organize and initiate it again??

Bursaries - We offer 2 bursaries of $500 each.  One to a graduate of New Beginnings who is continuing her education and one to a student of UCFV who is going into her second year in a fabric related field.

Centralized Birthday Fat Quarter Swap - Sign-up in May or June, shop during the summer then receive a bundle of fat quarters in the month of your birthday.

Community Events - The guild has a booth at many events to promote quilting and our charitable causes.  This is handled by many volunteers who sit and stitch and chat with visitors to the booth.

Executive - Members of the Executive are listed in the newsletter.  They meet on the Tuesday evening following the guild meeting.  All members are welcome to attend but only an executive member may vote on issues.

Fat Quarter Lottery -- Like the Block of the Month Lottery, we are currently not running this at our meetings -- an instigator and organizer is needed to head up this project.

Friendship - welcomes guests that are visiting the guild and gives them a fabric treat.  Visitors are allowed to attend on guild meeting and then must join if they wish to attend meetings or are charged a $3 visitors fee for meetings after their first visit.

Hospitality - coffee, tea, hot chocolate and sometimes cookies are provided during the "intermission" of each meeting.  Bring your own mug for refreshments, please.

Library - The library opens 30 minutes before the meeting starts.  Only members in good standing are permitted to borrow books.

Meetings - are held the second tuesday of each month, except in July and August.  Morning meetings begin at 10 am and evening meetings at 7pm.  The annual general meeting is held in June and is an evening only meeting.  Elections are held in May at both the morning and evening gatherings.

Membership - responsible for enrolling new members and for handing out door prizes at each meeting.  Membership lists are available to guild members in the fall each year.

Newsletter - We publish a newsletter before each monthly meeting except January.  Submissions for the newsletter are due (if hand written or typed) at the regular guild meeting (if by email to the editor) at or before the executive meeting.  Submissions to the newsletter may be made by any member of the guild and announcements from other guilds may be addressed to the newsletter editor for inclusion in the next issue.  Advertising is accepted for the following quilting season in August each year -- preferred on a yearly basis, single month advertisments are accepted if space allows.  Contact the newsletter editor for ad rates.

Phoning Committee - Members are notified of urgent or extra special events or circumstances by phone or email.  Volunteers are always welcome on this committee.

Photography - During Show and Tell, the guild photographer takes pictures of each project.  Double prints are made and one print goes into a photo album and the other is available for the maker of the quilt or project displayed in the photo.  We now use a digital camera and whenever possible photos are uploaded onto our guild members photo page, attached to this website.

Programs - Both Day and Evening meetings plan programs of interest to members.  Program Co-ordinators invite ideas and suggestions from members.

Publicity - this a a bulletin board at each meeting that contains current information of events, letters, advertising and other information of interest to members.

Quilt Show - This event is held every second year, 2008, 2010, 2012, etc.  A quilt show committee organizes and plans this event which is our guilds main fundraising and public event.

Retreat - The guild hosts a weekend retreat each year that is reasonably priced and is available for approximately 40-45 members to attend.

Satellite Groups - Along with our regularly scheduled meetings, many of our members have formed small groups for more personal attachments and closer bonds, some of the groups have a specific focus such as working together to create quilts for donation to our We Care program.

Secret Pals - This is a popular ongoing project in our guild.  Sign ups are usually in May and run through the next quilt year with the secret pal reveal at a special gathering in early June.

Show and Tell - Members are encouraged to bring their quilting efforts to the guild meetings to display and explain a bit about their project.

Sunshine - A greeting card is send to members who need a bit of sunshing in their life.

Website - you're lookin' at it...

We Care - This is the part of our guild that looks after promoting, collecting and delivering donation quilt.  Quilts are donated to the Preemie ward at our local hospital, to Victims Services, to Women's Transition House in Abbotsford and Mission and to a High School Project called New Beginnings.  Individual members are encouraged to contribute a quilt to these projects.

Workshops - Held at specified times, these are a great way to learn new to you techniques in quilting, or to start a new project.

Yahoo! online group - our guild maintains a chat group online for members who wish to talk about anything including quilting.  See our newsletter for details of how to be a member of this group.
