Phoning Committee - Members are notified
of urgent or extra special events by email or phone. Call the phoning committee chairperson, Lynne Weisgerber,
phone 604-820-3468 with your request and she will take care of the necessary steps to contact the members. Volunteers
are always welcome on this committee.
Photography - During Show and Tell,
the guild photographer takes pictures of each project. Double prints are made and one print goes into a photo album
and the other is available for the maker of the quilt or project displayed in the photo. We now use a digital camera
and whenever possible photos are uploaded onto our guild members photo page, attached to this website.
Programs - Both Day and Evening meetings
plan programs of interest to members. Program Co-ordinators invite ideas and suggestions from members.
Publicity - this a a bulletin board
at each meeting that contains current information of events, letters, advertising and other information of interest to members.
Quilt Show - This event is held every
second year. A quilt show committee organizes and plans this event which is our guilds main fundraising and public event.
Retreat - The guild hosts a weekend
retreat each year that is reasonably priced and is available for approximately 40-45 members to attend.
Satellite Groups - Along with our regularly
scheduled meetings, many of our members have formed small groups for more personal attachments and closer bonds, some of the
groups have a specific focus such as working together to create quilts for donation to our We Care program.
Show and Tell - Members are encouraged
to bring their quilting efforts to the guild meetings to display and explain a bit about their projects.
Sunshine - A greeting card is send to
members who need a bit of sunshine in their life. Members are urged to notify the sunshine committee when they hear
of someone that is in need of a card.
Website - Is maintained by Carole Lefler. We
are always looking for information for our website.
We Care - This is the part of our guild
that looks after promoting, collecting and delivering donation quilts. All quilts need to have a guild label attached
and these are available from the We Care committee members. Quilts are donated to the Preemie ward at our local
hospital, Victim Services, Women's Shelter, Peardonville House and to a High School Project called New Beginnings.
Individual members are encouraged to contribute a quilt to these projects. Reimbursement is available to help defray
the cost of backing and batting for those contributing donation quilts.
Workshops - Held at specified times,
these are a great way to learn new techniques in quilting, or to start a new project. Workshop samplers are displayed
during the meetings and publicized in the newsletter.
Yahoo! online group - our guild maintains
a chat group online for members who wish to talk about anything including quilting. See our newsletter for details of
how to be a member of this group.
