All members of the AQG are invited to participate in an exciting project. The Journal Quilt Project is based directly on the Journal Quilt Project organized by the International Quilt Festival.

The Guide Lines for the AQG Journal Quilt Project:

1. Each Journal Quilt will consist of six (6) individual QuiltPages. You are encouraged to start now and make as many pages as you would like and then choose the six you would like to hang in the show.

2. Each QuiltPage must finish 8½” X 11” (the size of typing paper) and be made to hang in the vertical orientation. This is the only restriction to the entries.

3. The edges of the quilt pages may be finished in any manner, including binding, serging, decorative stitches, and does not have to be consistent from page to page.

4. Each Journal Quilt, of 6 QuiltPages, will be sewn to a long black sleeve so that all the Journal Quilts, along with a one page, typed Journal (story about your work) can be hung on one rod. Instruction and fabric for this sleeve will come later.

5. There is no theme for the Journal Quilts except for what you choose for yourself. The ideas are limitless. Each quilter is free to follow a theme or not; this is strictly a matter of personal preference.

6. There will be no prizes, awards or voting on the Journal Quilts. The emphasis is on freedom to experiment and try new things – even if they don’t work!

7. This is not a secret project. You may ask for advice, try methods from any source, and incorporate things you learn in a class, we just ask that you do not simply do a pattern without significantly incorporating some creative energy.
