a Christmas Stocking Work Bee…
What is a work bee? It’s a beehive of activities making
something for others to help
make their Christmas
brighter through your generosity.
Yes, it’s that time of
year already to start thinking
about our annual assistance
by making a
Christmas Stocking for children and adults having
to spend their
Christmas time at a Transition House.
What to bring
Ø Sewing machine, your sewing machine peddle and
extension
cord
Ø Sewing supplies such as thread, pins, needles, scissors etc.
Ø Rotary cuter, mat, (spare blade just in case) and ruler
Ø Two -13 X 19 inch pieces of fabric for stockings preferably
Christmas
material but anything will work.
Remember
these will be for Christmas stockings
Ø Two - 13 X 19 inch pieces of fabric for lining
Ø 19 inches of lace for top, at least 2 ½ inches wide or your
choice
how to decorate the top edge, fun fur etc. works
great
or contrasting fabric for the top edge will work
Ø 27 inches of double fold - extra wide - bias tape
(1
pkg is enough for a couple of stockings)
Ø anything else you think you’d like to decorate your
stocking
it’s your choice.
Ø Trims such as lace, rick rack, etc work fine to decorate
if
you choose to do that.
Ø I have some piping I can share for the stockings and
it’s
WYSIWYG
Ø I’ll have patterns cut out to share with you
Ø Do you have any small items we can add to the stockings?
E.g.
soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo samplers, etc.
Please
bring them along to help fill the stockings
Add them into box for filling the stockings
