"We Care" quilts are made by our guild members
and distributed as needed to several groups throughout the Abbotsford area, such as the New Beginnings program, MSA Hospital
Special Needs nursery, Victim Services, and the Women and Children's Shelter. A quilt is donated each year to the city's New
Year's baby, and our We Care coordinators present a bursary to a New Beginnings graduate each year.
Materials for
quilt tops, as well as batting and backing are available as needed, and work bees are held periodically, while a We Care challenge is offered during the
summer break. We Care also provides display quilts for community events, when necessary.

Part of Abbotsford Quilters Community Service is that we encourage the learning of quilting
and sewing, therefore we also sponsor a Bursary to Students at UCFV who are part of the Textile Program, for information and
further details go to the Bursary Page at http://www.ucfv.ca/fineaid/fineaid_awards/bursaries.htm

|
| How our quilts are used and appreciated at MSA Premie Ward |
The sizes and particular requirements that Wee Care needs in order
to contribute appropriate quilts for the groups that we give to are:
Special Needs nursery - 30x36"
- flannel backing - no tied, no monofilament
threads
Victim
Services - any size suitable, but suggest 42"x50"+ at least
New Beginnings - at least 42" x 56" and up - prefer
you don't use monofilament thread, or tied quilts
Women's Shelter - any size, but no smaller than 42"x50" since they
could be used by either mother or child.
